A global industrial equipment manufacturer wanted an AI solution to guide its field technicians through complex repairs and cut the time its equipment spends out of service. Many sites with unreliable connectivity posed a challenge for AI solutions dependent on the cloud. With the Teknikos Hybrid AI Method, the manufacturer identified and shipped a hybrid solution that puts repair guidance on each technician's device, working without interruption whether the site is connected or not, and reaching the whole field force on the devices they already carry.

The Situation
The manufacturer's field technicians keep the world's plants and infrastructure running, and every hour a machine is down is an hour its owner loses. The company wanted an AI solution to put expert diagnostic and repair guidance in every technician's hands.
The trouble was reach: a large share of the work happens where a signal doesn't, inside plants, underground, at remote sites, and across borders, and an AI solution that depends on the cloud couldn't get there. The knowledge existed. It couldn't reach the technician at the moment of the repair.

How the Method Worked
The Teknikos Hybrid AI Method started by qualifying the use case. Its Eight Forces established that the work belonged on the device because it had to run where the network doesn't reach.
With the Unified Platform, the solution was mapped to the Microsoft products and services that would run and govern it, on the rugged devices the field force already carried and the management plane IT already operated.
Its Hybrid Routing Tree determined the cloud and local split: the guidance runs entirely on the device, so it works with no connection at all, and the cloud updates the model and syncs new repair knowledge whenever a device reconnects.
Its Operating Wheel set the plan to keep the guidance current as equipment lines change, models improve, and the fleet grows more capable.

The End State
Technicians got expert repair guidance on every job, whether or not the site had a connection. Fixes that once waited on a callback or a specialist's flight now happen on the first visit, and equipment spends less time out of service. Because the guidance runs on the devices the field force already carried, reaching the whole field force meant no new hardware and no dependence on a signal at the work site. The entire solution runs on the Microsoft estate the manufacturer already operated, with IT, security, and the service organization aligned behind it.
